Samsung DeX will also be supported on Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7, letting the palm-sized phone become a full-fledged portable PC. That’s the first time this feature has been supported on any of Samsung’s clamshell foldables. Plugging the Z Flip 7 into an external display or smart glasses will automatically launch DeX. Even better, you don’t have to completely open the device to do so, providing an even greater level of versatility!
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is Samsung’s tiniest phone that can serve as a pocketable PC. Integrated Samsung DeX This feature fills a huge hole in past Galaxy Z Flip generations, as DeX wasn’t supported on these devices.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 gets DeX too. This makes it possible for users to turn their smartphone or tablet into a mobile PC. For those who want more than a phone experience though, they need only plug the phone into an external display to launch DeX. Perhaps most impressively, you can even initiate DeX with the phone in a foldable form — though it has to be unlocked in that orientation.
The introduction of DeX support with the Galaxy Z Flip 7 comes as highly anticipated news. None of the earlier iterations in the Galaxy Z Flip family offered this capability. As such, users were never able to truly create mobile PCs with their phones.
Even as the confusion settled, it became unclear whether the lack of DeX support applied to the Galaxy Z Flip 7 because of how Samsung worded their press release. Through further investigation and confirmation, it turns out that the Z Fold 3 does officially support DeX, just not wired.
And thankfully, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 supports wired DeX. This addition fills a major gap in the past Galaxy Z Flip iterations by adding an important feature. Now, desktop-like productivity is available to users through their portable desktop-docking, compact foldable device!
